The Nigerian Police Force has arrested one Sunday Amuchionu of Suleja, Niger State over allegations that he used a stolen credit card to steal N60, 000 belonging to one Mrs. Beauty Aigbenidion of Area 11, Garki, Abuja.
According to police report, on June 30, 2009, the complainant came to Wuse police station, Abuja, and reported that on May 15, she went to Intercontinental Bank ATM at Wuse market and coincidentally met the accused at the ATM, and that while she was busy typing her pin numbers, the accused noted the pin numbers and subsequently stole her ATM card.
The accused allegedly used the card to withdraw N60, 000 from her account. During police investigations, the accused was later arrested and two other ATM cards were recovered from him, one of GTBank and two exchange cards for UBA, all belonging to different persons, with the accused failing to give satisfactory explanations to the police.
In another development, one Musa Akoji of no fixed address was arraigned and discharged at an Abuja magistrate court at Wuse Zone 6, Abuja by Magistrate Mabel Segun Bello from the charge of theft when the complainant, one Abdulfatai Hasiru of Zone 1, Wuse failed to appear in court for mention of the case.
The accused had been arraigned over an alleged theft of N4, 000 belonging to the complainant. The complainant had made a report at Wuse Police station, Abuja that he parked his car at Zone 1, Wuse and was relaxing when the accused came around and begged him for N100 to enable him to go to Kubwa. However, unknown to him, the accused put his hand into the front seat of the car and stole the said money.
